“Big” Update

December 30th, 2006 by Jarques

I’ve updated feedProcess tonight with some small new features and some design tweaks here and there. The major difference you might (and should) notice is the slight new layout of the content, it’s placed inside a neat little white “box”. Instead of having the wide open space on the page I decided to narrow it down so that you focus on the content provided via the feed, it also gives the site less of an “empty” feel.

One of the bigger features is support for two new podcasts feeds, but not just audio feeds, but video podcasts! The first podcast are supported via two formats, including Quicktime and DivX. The two feeds that are now supported:

Podcast Name: CommandN
DivX Feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/command-n/xvid
Quicktime Feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/command-n/h264

Podcast Name: muzikDEN
Quicktime Feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/muzikDEN-h264

So definitely be sure to check them out! Great video podcast.

I’ve also updated the RSS parsing script to deliver the content to the page with less system resources, you might not notice anything since the optimization was more geared towards lowering resources on my web server (thanks again Site5).

JavaScript Update

December 29th, 2006 by Jarques

With a fairly recent release of Script.aculo.us 1.7.0 beta 2, I decided to finally update! A lot of new features have been added since the previous version I’ve been using for feedProcess, hopefully the new features didn’t bring up any new bugs. So if you do notice some bugs please send me an email or post in the comments. I would really love to make the transition to the new library as painless as possible.

The new 1.7.0 beta includes something that might come in use for future features, especially the morphing effects. I’ve setup a quick single page showing what the Morph feature could do. If you have a good idea on how to implement this, I’m open to all ideas.

Just wanted to notify everyone that the feedProcess Tour is up. It’s not exactly a big tour, just a quick highlight of some of the current features.

New Buttons!

December 28th, 2006 by Jarques

I wanted to give Podcast RSS feeds a little more prominent feature within feedProcess, it’s no longer just a “add-on”, it has become a feature! I’ve decided to give Podcast controls a better feel with new buttons:

Listen download

I’ve also added a very cool “Back to Top” button at the bottom of the feed page. This will gradually (depending on size of feed) scroll to the top instead of having that old jump.

Are they a tad too bold?

Quick Update

December 28th, 2006 by Jarques

I’m working hard on improving feedProcess’ efficiency on spitting out data from your feeds. The main part I’m working on is detecting podcast feeds, I’m not 100% sure on when it’ll be done though. I’ll probably have it up for testing when I think it’s ready, just so that I can work on removing the last few bugs before pushing it to the main server.

While I’m still working on that, I’ve included Podcast support for:

Podcast Name: CNet Buzz
Podcast Feed: http://www.cnet.com/i/pod/cnet_buzz.xml

Podcast Name: Net@Night
Podcast Feed: http://leoville.tv/podcasts/itn.xml
Podcast Feed (alternate): http://leo.am/podcasts/itn

Podcast Name: CNN’s News Updates:
Podcast Feed: http://edition.cnn.com/services/podcasting/all/rss.xml

That’s all for now.
